Celebrate High Holidays with Tufts Hillel

 

We can't wait to celebrate together in-person!

For the safety of the Tufts community, this year our services and meals will only be available to current Tufts students. In addition, we will be requiring current Tufts students to register for services and meals through Eventbrite, using either the button below or links within the drop down menus.

Below, you will also find event descriptions and schedules for all our high holiday services and meals. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at hillel-center@tufts.edu.

For any service you wish to attend, please register via Eventbrite by September 6, 2021 and meet the requirements below:

  • Be a current Tufts student
  • Register with your Tufts email address 
  • Present your Tufts ID upon entering each service

 

Services options:

Sync & Charge: Immersive Service for Personal Growth

These traditional-egalitarian services will be led by Rabbi Naftali Brawer and will use the machzor (prayer book) “Lev Shalem.” Services will include:

  • Prayer as a personal journey
  • Hebrew liturgy combined with English readings and explanations
  • Guided meditations
  • Kabbalah-inspired themes
  • Integrating art, poetry, and literature
  • Communal singing

Open Gates/Open Hearts: Song and Prayer for a More Just World

These reform-inspired services will be led by Emmanuel Cantor, Hebrew College rabbinic student, and Jolie Davidson, Tufts senior. Services will include:

  • Integration of poetry/creative readings
  • Familiar reform liturgy with kavanah (intention)
  • Integration of social justice themes
  • Alternate prayer modalities
  • Space for personal reflection
  • Communal singing
  • Musical instrumentation

All Rosh Hashanah meals you wish to order must be placed by September 1, 2021 via Eventbrite and will be available for in-person dining under the Tufts Hillel tent (exact pick-up time is listed in the table below). Student may also take their meals to-go if they prefer.

Our meals are priced at the following rates: Lunches = $18.00, Dinners = $25.00. To ensure most folks can enjoy our holiday meal offerings, we welcome students utilize our pay-what-you-can model ($1.00 minimum). At check-out, please consider covering the cost of those who cannot pay full price.

For each Rosh Hashanah meal you wish to order:

  • You must order through Eventbrite by September 1, 2021
  • Your current Tufts ID is required at pick-up
  • Our pay what you can model is available for every meal ($1.00 minimum). At checkout, please consider covering the cost for students who cannot pay full price
  • Will be prepared served in a Covid-safe environment
